St Kilda Rd Pilgrimage

Rode across to St Kilda Rd to take some photos the other night. Failed to race the storm home on my single speed. Camera gear stayed moderately dry thanks to one of Stu Crumpler's camera bags. Nice to see an industrial designer who has done good. Thanks to the dudes at the shrine for being good sports.

The Colour of Television

The sky above the port was the colour of television, tuned to a dead channel.

Melbourne Darkness

Another nocturnal trip around Melbourne. Still some more images to go.

Miami West Melbourne

Also posted on Deviant Art where it has been universally ignored.

The alien goes suburban

I have included a couple of tourist snaps to balance my less attractive images under instructions from my ACT hosts.

Erindale is bigger than when I lived in Canberra, but also somewhat bleaker. There seems to be more cement and less happening outside. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bridge-O-Rama

The filth in the Yarra is easy to see in daylight. I was amazed by the drifts of PET bottles along the banks of the river under the Westgate Bridge. I wonder how much of that winds up out in the Bay.
Gotta hate pre-packaged bottled water.

Smallest Room

This shot was taken in pitch darkness (well as dark as it gets in the city).

Smashed

Every time I hop on my single speed to hurl myself around Alien Melbourne, I feel that I am taking my life in the hands of those who pilot 1000kg plus metal boxes around the streets. A few days ago two of these thing met at speed around the corner. These broken sweeping of glass and plastic are what was left after the wrecks were taken away.
I saw a T-shirt in the "local bike shop" with the prophetic slogan CARS R COFFINS.
Think about cycling or walking before you choose to drive. Think about other road users when you do.

Tribute

I'm having a Tenacious D moment. Paul Night took a photo of the same building in 2004 which I saw (after I took this shot with my trusty 1.3Megapixel fixed focus camera) in Photofile No 75. Paul's shot captures the moment of post modern angst the slipped through my fingers. This is not the greatest pic in the world, its a tribute.

PS

Paul took his photo at 90 degrees to this one from the terrace that appears on the right of the frame.

Some more old pics

Some more of the black and white images from elsewhere that I had a tinker with. Quite a lot less bleak than with no colour.

Reworking of old images

Here are some older alien melbourne images that have been previously published elsewhere, manipulated differently and under another alias. I'm going through a bit of a colour thing at the moment, so I've over-saturated the images. In their previous incarnations they had very little (if any) colour saturation. It makes my images more kitsch (if that is possible?).
